My son was doing amazingly on cariprazine 4.5mg , Benzatropine 3mg and fluoxetine 20mg for over 12 months .
4 weeks ago he started ranting and raving about his delusions of grandeur ( he doesn’t hear voices ) , he thinks he’s Eminem the rapper and has lived many lives as Eminem and believes he can fly off of the freeway ( making this delusion dangerous) He’s been back in hospital for 4 weeks , they’ve stopped the benztropine as they say this put him into psychosis , fluoxitine every other day and cariprazine is just 1.5mg .
He’s now the worst I’ve ever seen him , his self care has gone backwards , today Trump and the secret service paid him a visit apparently - he was just so nasty to me
. Why would his psychiatrist think it’s a good idea to decrease a dose while he’s in psychosis ? I know he was quite ‘stiff’ but shouldn’t they be trying another antipsychotic if this dose is clearly not working ?
